Turkish Airlines is signing a bulky sponsorship deal with British Premier League team Chelsea FC, Turkish media reports. Sides have agreed on the terms and are expected to release the details very soon according to Turkish daily Cumhuriyet.
Under the deal, Turkish will be the “transportation sponsor” of Chelsea and will fly the team to international matches abroad. The Turkish ads and banners are also to appear on billboards at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea’s home ground with a seating capacity of over 42K people.
Cumhuriyet says Turkish’s billboards at the Bridge aims to reach mainly Far Eastern countries where the British team has a strong follower base.
West London-based Chelsea had taken home 6 Premier League trophies since its establishment in 1905. They won two UEFA Cups and one Champion’s League cup.
Previously Turkish Airlines had signed sponsorship deals with leading football clubs like Barcelona, Manchester United and Borussia Dortmund.
